As I Walk As I walked along life’s broadway My heart all laden with sorrow How often did I hear God’s call To lift my cross and follow? But, on and on I wandered Through valleys of pain and sin Trying to quench the fiery darts Which roused desires within. Then, from the midst of darkness A light shone bright and clear At once my eyes were opened No more my heart did fear, Unto the voice I hearkened My soul I gave to Him And in return He cleansed me From wickedness and sin Now surely I will sing His praise For all the world to hear Forever to abide with Him By the river crystal clear.
